The 1938 Buick Y-Job Concept car became the forerunner of the modern concept cars. General Motors saw it could be used as part of their
marketing stategy for the future sales of their regular Buick models. It was used to introduce the public to future innovations and degigns.
The car introduced low and lengthy lines for GM models. The hood ornament became standard on Buick cars. The Y-Job use electric-controlled windows and
a power-operated top that was fully concealed when closed by a metal boot.
